Almost all USA STEM PHDs and MDs are heavily subsidized, and that includes almost all foreign STEM PHD students, too.

Indeed. My PhD study was funded by NIEHS grants, fellowships, and the Superfund through a work/study program. So around 70% of my graduate schooling was funded by the federal government. Fellowships and work/study pay tuition, student fees, and a small stipend.

The rest of the doctors want to get on the same government gravy train that the Medicare scam doctors are on. Having direct access to the US Treasury is very tempting.

And all the doctors are from India (or soon will be).

Wow. You beat me to it.

I was discussing this on a thread before Obamacare became the law of the land. We were talking about all the restrictions on doctors and that we would have a shortage of doctors because nobody would aspire to be one any more.

And then someone mentioned that it would be like the UK. All the doctors would eventually be foreign born.

And here we are.

Yep. I read who the source was and thought, “Looks like Kaiser has worked out a deal.”

Socialized medicine is coming.

It will be the Millennial Generation's grand "Screw You!" to their Boomer parents for dropping a giant s*** sandwich of debt on them.

"Sorry, mom about that five year wait for heart surgery but at least the broken arm my kid got falling off his bike won't bankrupt me."

Maybe. But, if slightly true, they are the ones that will be filling the jobs soon enough. And it is quite scary that they think this is a good idea.

DING! DING! DING!

We have a winner!! If they can go to college for 12 years, but have all of those bills written off, the minute they become a licensed Doctor, they don’t NEED to make $350K a year to pay back college loans! AND, many hospitals give very GENEROUS packages to their in-house doctors, including houses and vehicles, etc...

A very small percentage of doctors belong to the AMA. Every analysis of single payer states that the money paid to health care providers would have to be cut to the bone as an effort to contain the massive costs of such a plan. And the doctors are for this? Yeah, right.

you’d love Communism if you only knew what it was - Jane Fonda

Now in our country under our free-enterprise system we have seen medicine reach the greatest heights that it has in any country in the world. Today, the relationship between patient and doctor in this country is something to be envied any place. The privacy, the care that is given to a person, the right to chose a doctor, the right to go from one doctor to the other.

But let’s also look from the other side. The freedom the doctor uses. A doctor would be reluctant to say this. Well, like you, I am only a patient, so I can say it in his behalf. The doctor begins to lose freedoms, it’s like telling a lie. One leads to another. First you decide the doctor can have so many patients. They are equally divided among the various doctors by the government, but then the doctors are equally divided geographically, so a doctor decides he wants to practice in one town and the government has to say to him he can’t live in that town, they already have enough doctors. You have to go some place else. And from here it is only a short step to dictating where he will go.

This is a freedom that I wonder if any of us has a right to take from any human being. I know how I’d feel if you my fellow citizens, decided that to be an actor I had to be a government employee and work in a national theater. Take it into your own occupation or that of your husband. All of us can see what happens once you establish the precedent that the government can determine a man’s working place and his working methods, determine his employment. From here it’s a short step to all the rest of socialism, to determining his pay and pretty soon your son won’t decide when he’s in school where he will go or what he will do for a living. He will wait for the government to tell him where he will go to work and what he will do.

In this country of ours, took place the greatest revolution that has ever taken place in the world’s history; the only true revolution. Every other revolution simply exchanged one set of rulers for another. But here, for the first time in all the thousands of years of man’s relations to man, a little group of men, the founding fathers, for the first time, established the idea that you and I had within ourselves the God given right and ability to determine our own destiny. This freedom was built into our government with safeguards. We talk democracy today, and strangely, we let democracy begin to assume the aspect of majority rule is all that is needed. The “majority rule” is a fine aspect of democracy provided there are guarantees written in to our government concerning the rights of the individual and of the minorities.

What can we do about this? Well, you and I can do a great deal. We can write to our congressmen and to our senators. We can say right now that we want no further encroachment on these individual liberties and freedoms. And at the moment, the key issue is, we do not want socialized medicine.

- Ronald Reagan

This doctor and her husband hate single payer. It will kill all the innovation and finish ruining the best health care system in the world. Medicare’s rules have made patient care much more cumbersome and difficult and their documentation requirements ensure that as a physician I spend more time in front of a computer than with my patients.
As for the cost of education my daughter will graduate from med school next spring with 250,000 in loans. That’s after we paid every penny of her undergrad and all her living expenses in med school. A lot of her classmates owe double that.

“Single payer” would make all doctors and hospitals Federal employees. The Federal government would have total and complete control over who lives and who dies. Once you reach “retirement” age or can no longer work, you’re out of here. “You’ve had a great life. Adios compadre.”

This is propaganda. Doctors still hate socialist medicine. They hate Obamacare, which is socialist lite.

AMA has been taken over by extreme leftists! They do not represent doctors. They represent Karl Marx.

socialized medicine:

Egalitarianism + price controls + bureaucratization =

-increased aggregate demand for medical services
-increased total costs, waste, and inefficiency
-decreased supply of doctors = shortages of doctors
-decreased quality and quantity of medical services for each individual patient (rationing)
-decreased value of each individual patient to a provider
-enslavement of doctors
-death panels
-decreased technological advances and decreased technological progress in medicine.

On a government program, they will get paid. It will be a miserly amount dictated from above, but they will receive it.

Under the current system they have to employ a bloated office staff to chase and chase their payment from insurance companies who use deliberate stall tactics to stretch their payables out to Net 300.

Corruption of the present system is feeding the future one.
