This should have been done by grass roots petition to put the question ON the ballot.
While I’m fine with prohibiting exotic and wild animals in a city-all those pythons certainly weren’t exactly beneficial to the ecological balance in Florida-I do have a problem with banning any breed of plain vanilla domestic pet-bird, cat, dog rabbit whatever-that is just a door to banning any person or thing enough people don’t like-I’ll bet real money that sooner or later, after they’ve banned every dog on the stupid “bad dog” list, they will be banning pets above a certain weight-everyone must have a Yorkie, Chihuahua, Rat Terrier-and no more Maine Coon or Persian “type” cats or Belgian Hare-type rabbits-too big! They might scratch or bite! What is next-ban Macaws and other large parrots? They can damn near bite off a finger-or nose...
I’ve only had one dog that was not on the “bad dog” list-an Aussie Shepherd, that was over 25 years ago. Never had a problem with either of my German Shepherds, my Chow or my Siberian Husky-all are supposedly bad dogs-mine were protective guard dogs and also very well behaved and trained...
