Just raise the price of men’s products. Problem solved.
Thanks a lot.

Laughable someone would even write such an article. No one keeps them from buying Head & Shoulders, Ivory Soap, men’s razors, etc.

Of course there is no analysis of the production costs of each product...because of sexism...or something!

"Plus, Mehta doesn't believe those costs shouldn’t be passed on to the customer"

So, she believes they should be past on?

terrible writing!

If women were unwilling to pay more for women-special products, there would be no price difference (and likely few women-special products).

If it didn’t cost more to market to women, you would not see much of a price difference.

My wife once asked me why women’s clothing cost more. I answered: “Look around and see how much square footage has to be devoted to women’s stuff, in order for women to find the exact color and style they want. They will try on umpteen different things, and then wind up returning much of what they bought. That’s why.”

Women pay more because they are willing to pay more to pamper themselves. Society has told them they are worth it.

Unintended consequences.

One of my favorite products is called "White Rain", a combination of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in one large bottle available for $1 at DOLLAR GENERAL and other retail locations. My wife insists on buying three different products somewhere else, all pricier.

When we do that which sometimes married couples do, she even admits I smell pretty good.

I rest my case.

Everything goes on sale. Everything. And then there are coupons. Buy your products when they are on sale and with a coupon. And that goes for everything else. Just do smart shopping. Stock up when stuff is on sale. Or use products marketed to men. There is almost always an unscented version. Add some essential oils of a fragrance you like. Duh! This is not a crisis or conspiracy against women. With all the problems going on in the world, this is definitely a 1st world concern.

So just use soap and regular shampoo. If all women did, the pink tax would go away. It doesn’t go away because women ‘must’ buy the crap that’s out there and manufacturers gleefully dance a fandango every time someone buys over priced products.

My wife often says. Wow this sale is good this ‘widget’ costs only 1/4 what it sold for last month. The problem is the widget’s new price is 2 to 3 times the price of a similar widget made for a man.

I suggest shopping at Walmart or Amazon to get more equitable prices.

Don’t get trapped into the whole fashion nexus.

This is absurd. First, it is not a tax. Only government can tax. Second, if women don’t want to spend more on lilac colored scented razors, then buy plain men’s razors. I hate to say it, but many women believe silly things.

Exactly. I am not picky about such things. Ivory soap and Head and shoulders are staples in our house, and a razor is razor, whether it is pink or black.

The stuff in deodorant is the same for men and women, just marketed different. They spend far more in advertising to women than men, charge more accordingly, because that is where the market is. All women have to do is STOP. Stop buying because it is fancier, has ‘oil of hand squeezed iris blossoms’, etc.

They don’t buy the stuff, no ‘pink tax’.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Remember in the show 3rd Rock From the Sun, the one character(French Stewart) was always bragging how they invented and did things we had no idea about..

EXCEPT

They never figured out how to get shampoo and Conditioner in one container...

Guess they would really be ‘stumped’ now that we have soap in it also...<:<:

This is crap. Most things that market for men are very expensive, like The Art of Shaving or Aiden Gill. The reality is that most men are fine with uni-sex soaps like Irish spring and uni-sex shampoos. Many women like to upgrade in this area. So they buy something more expensive than the lowest price. Women literally prefer paying more because they think its better.
