We haven’t had even 65% eligible voter turnout for presidential elections for 100+ years. Most of the time it has been way less than that. I often wonder if things would be better or worse now if more had voted.
The horrific thing about it is that supposedly the dumbest voters who still somehow manage to vote, the ones that have no guiding political philosophy but who can be swayed, decide all elections. Swing voters. So no matter the result, the swayable decided it based on who was able to sway them that political cycle. The result could be good or bad, con or lib, pub or dem, but the dumbest voters decided it.
