Pit bulls can be quite dangerous.

I once had to have a chow-chow mix put down after attacking people. We tried training, doggie anti depressants; brought him to three different vets who all recommended the same thing. When he was a
12 week old puppy, he attacked our adult black lab! But when he snapped at our toddler son, that was the last straw.

Different breeds are bred for different purposes.

Our current black lab will bark up a storm if someone comes to the door, but then will lick them to death, tail wagging the entire time. :)

Sorry to hear that about you chow, Not the first time Ive seen it in print about them attacking an owner. Aren’t chow-chows chinese guard dogs? Breed to bite?

Had a rescue Walker Coon Hound with the same problem - except it was me she tried to bite. With an (at the time) infant (grandson) in the house, out the door she went. Broke my heart because she was so lovable otherwise.

A black lab attacked our 18-pound Sheltie. Only his heavy coat kept the lab's teeth from his neck. Another one tried, but I picked ours up and kept the lab away until the owner got it in control. Bad owners? Yes, but I don't trust labs anymore, too.

My black lab won’t even bark. He’ll approach, then lay down, roll over and thump his tail on the ground begging for a belly rubbing.

Aww, poor thing. My parents got a chow after I went to college, and whenever I came home, it took him a day or two to rembember who I was. Never bitey, but yeah. Other than that, he was a good doggie.

I’d have to say that aside from that (ahem) small issue, of all the dogs my family had, I probably loved him most. I think that if I were able to have a dog myself, (life is too busy) I would love to have a chow.
