Real estate on the Big Island is absolutely affordable. We have property there and was looking at retiring there until our parents started getting ill and then dieing. Puma area is no more than California where we live now. I’m headed there again in September.
A friend of mine lives there and you’re right. I have to admit that I kinda joked that if I outlive my wife, I just might stake out a spot on the big island. One thing I like about it is that it is by far the least touristy of the islands. It’s a place I could live, rather than just visit. And the beautiful, yet deserted beaches are an attraction as well.
