My dd was threatened by a nut with a knife on a subway months ago and still has PTSD
The environmental zealots who believe we’ll all give up cars and switch to mass transit are in serious denial. I couldn’t imagine exposing my family (or myself) to this on a daily basis. I understand this is how most people travel in cities; I also understand why so many people left NYC and built up northern NJ after WWII (when the GI Bill provided some socio-economic mobility that hadn’t been so widely available before). Carpooling and HOV lanes have fallen flat here in NJ; people have no misconceptions about the dangers of too many people too close together.
I avoid public transportation.
Heck, I avoid cities.
