JimRob wants it that way, it’s his board, so that’s the way it is.
Mmmm...you don’t look like a dragon...
In reality, a web site is a press in First Amendment terms. (The First Amendment, nor any other, had the intent of countermanding the Constitutions authorizing the Patent Office to promote the progress of science and the useful arts - and printing was and is a useful art. A web site, like telegraph, telephone, radio, etc. is just progress of that "useful art" of the printing press). But freedom of the press does not include (unfortunately) my ability to freely publish my opinions in The New York Times. That publication does not print anything unless its management wants to. And its ability to attract certain audiences - and its inability to attract others - flow from that publications managements decisions.
The same principle applies to FR. Flaming liberals do not flock to FR to learn (mores the pity) but conservatives do. And we FReepers get wide latitude, generally - but only because we are conservatives who generally agree with Jim Robinson. No liberal gets wide latitude here, because that would not help the FR brand, and would not promote JRs agenda. There are always gonna be gray areas, I suppose, but the logic is simply that altho we contribute financially and intellectually to FR, whatever happens on FR happens on Jim Robinsons watch. So, rightly, he makes the call - and whether or not anyone else thinks a pitch was outside, if Jim calls it a strike, thats what it is.
It isnt all that hard, apparently, to make your own web site. But establishing a brand, and attracting and holding an audience - well, thats why Trump is a billionaire and you and I arent.
...wetting all over... :^D IR
