You all appear to be speaking of the Qabbalah practiced in Hollywood and among cults. To leave it here would be misleading.
With the breakup of the Jewish state in Roman times, many Jewish scholars began searching their Scriptures for answers. To be brief, they dug deeply into the words and structure of the Scriptural passages. They began to uncover supernatural revelations within the Tanach. When some of their writings were discovered in Renaissance Europe there was an explosion of interchange of Scriptural ideas between the Jews and the Christians... Some Christians learned to read Hebrew. The concept of Qabbalah - קבל 'to receive' - became public.
It would be pedestrian to say that such modern works as 'The Bible Code' and Dan Brown are a mere shadow of such efforts. When it was discovered that The Word of God actually contained power for good, it cannot surprise us that the Word of God might be perverted to discover power to do evil... After all, it IS The Word of God... the secrets of creation might be found there - and the power to influence that creation, for good or evil.
Some of these Bible codes are interesting, but quite possibly misleading. The point is, if one does not believe that The Word of God is the word of god then the whole subject is meaningless. But for us that believe in The Word of God, and have studied it in depth, we know that it can be used for good or evil - as it was before Babel to change creation, and has been since to pervert creation and the abundant Love of God.
Yes, like Simon the magician [Acts 8:18 et fol], there are those that seek to capture the power of the Word for personal gain, but not everyone who seeks a deeper relationship with their Creator is on the side of destruction.

Qabbalah is literally the opposite path to Yeshua’s way.
Matthew 23 (in the original Hebrew, and if it is not presented in Hebrew, it is not scripture) is a total demolition of all that the Pharisees practiced.
