Cernovich may be bringing a grenade to a knife fight. Apparently he has a rape accusation in his past as well as rape joke tweets. Michael Ian Black has already called him out on this.
Granted, I looked at the two side-by-side and Black’s comments are WAAAY worse (and Gunn’s were the most disgusting things I’ve ever read). Just trying to point out that we shouldn’t quite rally behind Cernovich as a crusader for justice yet.
What’s especially freaky to me, though, is that Oswalt, Black, and Gunn all hide behind the whole “Jokes are supposed to be edgy” thing. But if I were to tell a joke about pedophilia (which I never would), I wouldn’t make it about myself being the molester. That’s when it crosses the line from “no holds barred” to creepy. In the so-called jokes, they were actually describing themselves doing sexual things to boys as if it were funny. It’s not, and never could be under any circumstances.
Cernovich’s joke, while tasteless, was an isolated incident and not part of a pattern.
Black’s, on the other hand, is repeated at least a dozen times in various forms. It’s clearly something on his mind on a fairly regular basis, which dramatically increases the chances that there’s behavior as well as mere joking involved.
Regardless of Cernovich’s personal virtue or lack thereof, we should definitely be taking the lead and using the Left’s own standard (automatic guilt, no trial) to destroy as many of them as possible. At a minimum we have a US Senate seat worth of revenge-taking to make this even; if we’re smart about it we can use it repeatedly and relentlessly to deal the final blows to the political future of progressive neoliberalism.
Every time one of them speaks up, we crawl through their social history and look for references to children. A surprising number of them have this stuff all over their history.
So it's kind of odd he first started blogging about the manosphere, fitness, and juicing.
Jokes are supposed to be edgy
That’s what Roseanne Barr thought.
