I like that too.

Most know the analogy regarding the sheep and the wolves. But I heard something else I liked that likened some of our finest to the “Break Glass In Case of Emergency” Crowd.

I believe the discussion was regarding American Generals and how different politicians “used” them. Some generals serve the politic of the nation. They are kept in the DOD and serve as sounding boards, strategists and cabinet members. They look good and say the right things to influence policy and support our government leaders.

Then there are the REAL important Generals. These are the warriors. These are the hardened blood and guts, patriotic battlefield guys that you want leading a tenacious, well trained, fighting force of US Soldiers into combat. These are the guys that save the lives of soldiers and win wars when necessary, and by any means necessary. For the right President, they are like the Fire Extinguisher you keep next to your bed or the loaded gun you keep close. You hope to never need them and you don’t show them off. But if absolutely needed, you will be glad they were there.

I know we have the well trained, equipped and dedicated fighting force at the ready to defend our freedom wherever a fight in necessary. But I fear Obama eviscerated our box of Combat Generals to lead them if necessary. I hope Trump is putting the right warriors in place as he works to rebuild the whole military fighting force. They don’t need to be on display. And they aren’t usually the type of people you want in the news, on camera or doing interviews. But I would sleep even better with some reassurance that we have some hardened, respected and capable warrior generals anxious for a fight, just in case.

Truman did it.
Carter did it.
Clinton did.
and yes, Hussein did it.

Clinton probably did the most damage.

Fully agree with your last two paragraphs.

Swartzkoph (sp?), Patton and McArthur are examples.

Has always pissed me off that Colin Powell tried to claim credit for the successes of “Stormin’ Norman”.
