K ylie Jenner sits at a dark-wood dining table at her mother's home in Calabasas, California, flicking through display options for a forthcoming pop-up shop. The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner industrial complex needs to decide how to showcase products by her Kylie Cosmetics makeup company. She taps her black iPhone X with a silver glittery nail and turns the screen around to show a coterie of employees a vending machine.
"You guys, imagine this, but all in lip kits," says Jenner, dressed in a black blazer and matching black patent Louboutins with bright red soles. "I think it needs to be a clear vending machine where you see all the colors."
What her half-sister Kim Kardashian West did for booty, Jenner has done for full lips. Like Kardashian West, she has leveraged her assets to gain both fame and money. But while her sister is best-known for the former, Jenner has proved adept at the latter. In historic fashion. Just 20 when this story publishes (she'll turn 21 in August) and an extremely young mother (she had baby daughter Stormi in February), Jenner runs one of the hottest makeup companies ever. Kylie Cosmetics launched two years ago with a $29 "lip kit" consisting of a matching set of lipstick and lip liner, and has sold more than $630 million worth of makeup since, including an estimated $330 million in 2017. Even using a conservative multiple, and applying our standard 20% discount, Forbes values her company, which has since added other cosmetics like eye shadow and concealer, at nearly $800 million. Jenner owns 100% of it.

I can’t stand the Kardashians but good for her!
People freely gave her all that money because of her perceived value to them. It’s weird, but that’s human life.
Wonder if “Daddy” is a customer?
Go Kylie!!!
“What her half-sister Kim Kardashian West did for booty, Jenner has done for full lips.”
I’m not sure I agree. All I’ve ever seen of KJ promotes her lack of underwear, not her lips.
Whatever’s come to KJ so far has been because of Kim, and Bruce’s notoriety.
I think this is Big Media’s attempt to switch our attention AWAY FROM Kim and Kanye, now good acquaintances of President Trump.
In fact, I myself have several bottles of Kylie Jenner nail polish: $2 each at Walmart, until they went on clearance and cost $1. Excellent durability.
Good for her....cannot stand them but they know how to make money.
Well, being slutty is the oldest profession....
So, youre saying she sells a good product at a reasonable cost?
Imagine making money without gouging the customer.
I remember when I read a lot of science fiction in the early 70’s and thinking about record sales. I put the two together and wondered:
Imagine the human race on several planets and having a population of trillions. To become wildly rich you could market a product to a ridiculously tiny fraction of that population.
One of the greatest achievements of the computer and the internet is to get your product in front of billions of people and make it cost effective to charge people and busnesses less than a penny for a thing.
Side boobage.
KJ’s got “Man Hands”
I can vouch only for the “Sinful Colors” nail polish line. (What’s “sinful” about light blue, anyway?) I don’t use most other cosmetics, and I think the Kylie line is mostly way beyond Walmart prices.
Somewhat related, I recall a science fiction story from years ago that (as a very minor plot point) mentioned a crook who managed to digitally steal a tiny fraction of a penny from each and every bank transaction in the continent of Africa (they had low tech and didn’t detect such minor losses). The guy made trillions and basically collapsed Africa.
KJs got Man Hands
Indeed, she does. Somehow I never noticed that before...
