Is there something wrong with me that I think there is something wrong with having your body painted in tatoos?
I always believed you were to leave this world with your body shaped and “decorated” as G-d gave you, accepting just how it matured over the years but not arificially modifying it. Just old prudish me, I guess.
The OT does have a law against marking the Body....I wonder if it had to do with God looking ahead and seeing Jews being marked with concentration camp tatoos...but that is just speculation on my part! The verse is in Leviticus and it goes (Don’t cut your bodies for the dead and don’t put marks on your bodies). In the context though the “marks part” may be related to the “cutting” part in terms of memorializing the dead and not a general injunction against all tatoos, (just in the specific context as listed above since the practice “of cutting for the dead” as
above had to do with idolatry which is hated by God.
