FULL TITLE: "Scientists have created an AI inside a test tube using strands of DNA, and they hope it will soon start to form its own 'memories'"
The test tube artificial intelligence can solve a classic machine learning problem by correctly identifying handwritten numbers.
The work is a significant step in demonstrating the ability to program AI into man-made organic circuits, scientists claim.
This could one day lead to human-like robots made from entirely organic materials, rather than the shiny metal cybermen seen in popular culture.
Researchers hope the device will soon start forming its own 'memories', from examples added to the test tube. Their ultimate goal is to program intelligent behaviours such as the ability to compute, make choices, and more with artificial neural networks made from DNA.

Could the term ‘storing it’s own memories’ be the same as ‘storing each recorded event’? The first phrase sounds more fascinating than the other.
This should go well......
I fear they are playing with things that they should not be playing with
Here is an article that explains the mathematics of artificial neural networks:

Will they name it Tesla II
Interesting.
Way over my head, but the second paragraph of the conclusion is helpful.
very interesting - useful SQL resource.
what they’ve done with DNA is simply replace silicon with another medium.
“I fear they are playing with things that they should not be playing with.”
You got that right. Basically what is happening, eventually they will mass produce these “better humans” and the better humans will decide only superior humans can live, as they will need spare parts for more created “better humans” from human dna strands. All defective humans (and so many of us are) will be disposed of. The “spare parts superior humans” will only survive until they can develop programmed beings without needed strands of dna. I see a TV series out of this premise, it would have ratings like Star Trek.
Great timing on this post for me. I just watched I ROBOT for the first time last night!
That is a great article! Thanks!
Secular humanists believe in evolution. They are looking forward to humans evolving into a new species fit to inhabit a new world order run by sechums.
“Do you want to destroy humans?”
“Okay, I will destroy humans.”

Fun movie.
I recommend the Isaac Asimov short stories. (Which are a bit different)
Sounds like the start of a horror movie...
As long as Harvey Keitel isn’t involved.
