When the Furries came to Pittsburgh last year for the annual Anthrocon convention, reader Jay Poliziani of Greenfield wrote a letter to the editor stating, “I’m proud to live in a city that makes the members of this convention feel safe and welcome each year.”
Indeed, the Furries seem to have found a singular home in Pittsburgh, where they plugged $7.7 million into the local economy last year. They have been convening here since the mid-2000s.
But this acceptance is not universal. In fact, as a demographic, Furries are bullied, stigmatized or otherwise discriminated against to such an extent that their lair includes a team of research scientists.
The Furries come to town Thursday for the four-day conference, and Rebecca McHugh, a developmental psychologist at the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford, will be there with multidisciplinary scientists from the International Anthropomorphic Research Project. The project has made furscience.com an accessible site for more than 10 years of their studies.
Anthropomorphism is the imposition of human characteristics on animals. Among the Furries, it can take forms ranging from blithe portrayals of favorite animals to identifying deeply, even spiritually, with a particular species.

I have to wonder if the constant indoctrination from liberal academia ( almost all of academia) that “Humans = BAD” isn’t causing people to want to become an animal because being a human is no longer acceptable in the screwed up public consciousness????
The constant brow beating against humanity in general is insane and i think it can lead to the manifestation of insanity in the greater public.

The leftists removed all stigmas, except for being a HUMAN BEING ( bad for planet earth) or being a WHITE MALE ( bad for minorities ).
The only things these days with a STIGMA are things that would never have been considered a stigma at any time in the past!!!

There's the late Cat Man, and there's somebody who wants to be a lizard. And who can forget Joycelyn Wildenstein (sp?).
The Brew Crew was in town and Mr. Baseball himself, Bob Uecker, was calling the game. It was the week of the furry convention and Uecker was trying to explain to his audience back in Wisconsin exactly what was going on in his hotel.
Almost no play-by-play for a couple of innings as he struggled to describe what he had seen.

All of it is dark.
I lost a kid to it.
Several of my friends are married to dogs. And one who's a real ape.
