Ryan was chosen for a reason
He is leaving the House at the end of his term to cash in on K Street. So he would be the perfect ‘statesman’ figure to preside. The permanent government has the money and hundreds of hacls and ‘think tank whores at their command. Regular people have to work evefy day and don’t have the timr or enerhy to deal with swamp machinations

I’m fairly sure (90%?) that once the delegates meet, that among them they choose a presiding officer. Remember, precedent would be followed, and there were many conventions prior to 1776 of 2 or more colonies; and that’s how it worked then.

Seems to me that a “Ryan/Ryno” would be out of the question to be involved. Indeed, it would negate the very essence of COS - as Ryno is not a state kind of guy in any way shape or form. He can’t elect himself as chair of a COS.

I believe the “statesman” that would preside would be someone who embodies the spirit of the state side of federalism.
