The biggest name in basketball is headed to Hollywood.
Through a short news release issued by his agents at Klutch Sports, LeBron James announced at 8:05 p.m. Sunday night that he would join the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency and sign a four-year, $154 million contract.
In what has become an every-four-years ritual for the three-time N.B.A. champion, James has chosen to switch teams for the third time in his career, opting to leave his home-state Cleveland Cavaliers for a second time and join one of the leagues glamour franchises.
James took to Instagram to say goodbye to Cavaliers fans, posting a picture of Clevelands championship parade in 2016 with the caption: Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible 4 seasons. This will always be home.
The deal includes a player option that will enable James to return to free agency after the third season of his new contract. James does not plan to hold a news conference to elaborate on the decision until later in the off-season, according to a person with knowledge of his plans who was not authorized to discuss them publicly.
After four seasons, four trips to the N.B.A. finals and one unforgettable title run in 2016 with the Cavaliers in a city that had gone 52 years without tasting championship glory James will play in the Western Conference for the first time. A native of Akron, Ohio, James began his professional career when Cleveland made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 draft.
His new team, the Lakers, have missed the playoffs for a franchise-record five consecutive seasons and failed in their attempts to lure the All-Star free agent Paul George away from the Oklahoma City Thunder this off-season.

Bwahahahahaha!
Why isn’t left screaming about the obscene amount of compensation he is received. Thousand times more than the people who sell popcorn at the games.
receiving.
That’s good since I don’t care about ungrateful thugs who despise our country.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Lakers make the playoffs next year.

They probably will with LeBron and others.
Why doesn’t the NBA have racial quotas in order to reflect the diversity of America?
Yeah, youre the American who roots for US teams to lose. I forgot.
Takin’ my talents to South Beach. I mean, you know, The Southland or something.
I can’t wait until he is old and running out of gas so the Suns can sign him.
Heh
The rest of the world is quickly catching up with the US in basketball, they actually are better at the fundamentals, rather than just at dunking the ball.
Popcorn sellers make $154,000?
“Popcorn sellers make $154,000?”
Where do I apply?
I fully expect LeBron to say he won't go the WH before the Lakers have even won a game.
Let alone a Championship.
Yes, he's that petty.
I often wondered why my Dad never watched sports. Now that I’m at the age he was back then........I know why. Same Reason Sonny could care less about sports. He had it right and so did My Dad:

Currently LBJ is the best basketball player anywhere on Planet Earth. The problem with his new contact is that it pays him too much money. LA Lakers will not have sufficient salary cap moneys to build the proper team around him. Those of you who hate him will watch as his Lakers team does not win a championship and will laugh at him. The sad fact is that if he had signed for half or a third of the amount he and the Lakers might have gotten an NBA title. They came to kill Ceaser. They came to destroy LeBron. The opera of the tragic clown. Que the Seinfeld Show...Joe Divola goes off his meds.
