The Art of Edouard Manet (2832-1883) to the music of Saint-Saens
YouTube ^

A roughly chronological view of the art of Edouard Manet, to Sonata for Oboe and Piano in D-Major Op-166 by Saint-Saens. Manet was pre-impressionist, and you can see his style move from realism into a more impressionist approach.

I love The Art Institute!!
To this day I don’t think I’ve ever seen a piece of art more beautiful than the Chagall Window there.

Imagine living for a thousand years in reverse! Constipation doesn’t begin to describe it. Uneating your food for all those years while you fill the wine bottle from your mouth!

That's ok dear. I have what might be called ‘’mathematical neurosis’’’’. I mean I know 2+2 makes 4 but I worry about it, ya know?

Not my favorite style. My favorite painting there I believe they sold. Village of the Mermaids by Paul Delvaux. Favorite sculpture is Lorado Taft’s The Solitude of the Soul. From the earliest visit I can remember, mother would stand me in front of it and explain the lines and the curves. Good memories.
