Same here, though I admire the older lady for wearing stilettos without breaking a hip. What is going on hear is how we grew up thinking about proportions. I find high heels and high-water pants just odd, but to a contemporary of Melania’s they likely look fine. But how I lived that gorgeous punk suede dress she wore a few days ago!
If Mrs. Knauss didn’t have the heels on, her head would be elbow-height on the rest of the family. (I have a son who can comfortably rest his elbow on my head; it’s annoying.)
You’re right about the proportions. Youth fashion doesn’t seem to look at how clothes go on a human body. It’s as if they’re just looking at the separate pieces on a website.
Melania often has very tasteful dresses which flatter her height. I like suede only for shoes and purses, though!
