Today the Silver Screen Bottling Company announced a new line of officially licensed Star Trek-inspired spirits, kicking off with the launch of a James T. Kirk Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The new Kirk whiskey is described as “an artisan bourbon that celebrates Captain Kirk’s bold spirit of adventure.”

The new Kirk Bourbon is a small batch release selected from choice barrels aged between 4-12 years. According to Silver Screen Bottling, the Star Trek whiskey “exhibits a depth and richness seen in only the finest examples of bourbon with notes of caramel, Asian 5 spice and pecan” which is “crafted with the highest respect for the whiskey and for the man that bears its name.”

While reading the blurb, my imagination raced on;

.. for when the tasters tapped the few barrels produced, they were surprised to discover the PH of the water wasn't correctly balanced with the other ingredients rendering a flavor not so distinctly bourbon, but,

"Hell ... we've made it and advertised it, we'll describe it “an artisan bourbon that celebrates Captain Kirk’s bold spirit of adventure.”

Should sell out in 48 hrs.

Ain't never gonn'a do THAT again"

William Shatner hosted a screening of Star Trek II here in Denver just a week ago. It was a fun evening.

He took (pre-screened) questions from the audience. The first one: “How do you tell the sex of a tribble?”

His reaction: “In all the years I’ve done this, I’ve never been asked that question. And I never want to be asked it again!”

Load Mr. Sulu up with this stuff and he’d be prepared to let you go where no man has gone before.

Actually, the bourbon really isn’t needed at all.
