mostly agree with you, but the girl still had the choice to stop playing the online game. OR her mom if she knew could have told her to stop playing the game.
There were other options than to just keep playing the game being harrassed/stalked and let it escalate more as they did.
If someone is harrassing, or seems mentally out of sorts, bullying etc, it’s up to the rational, sane person to make adjustments. Stupid to expect she could just keep playing the game and some how it would all work out ok. She’s got an addiction if she couldn’t or wouldn’t stop for her own sake.
Yes the man was wrong or sick and did not understand better, but 14yr old is old enough to know better as is mom. The man being killed didn’t have to happen and I hope they actually learn their part in this happening and change their ways too.
Actually what she should have done is emailed the gaming company and told what was going on. She could have had is IP address banned. Most companies if not all don’t go for this and don’t allow other gamers to stalk, threaten, or harass other members.
Being so young she probably did not know this.
