What father wouldn't do this? In fact, I'll bet moms would, too.

Bravery needs no license, nor certification.
Whoever is closest acts.
Sue them.

I am sure given losing a son or being put on probation for a year this Dad made the right decision. I am sure he would do it again.

Absolutely unacceptable that this father is being suspended/punished for saving his own son’s life- over a stupid idiotic nascar rule about not wearing shorts on the track. Whoever imposed the penalty on this man needs to be fired!

So if the father is the one who pulled him out, it seems like he beat the safety personnel to the wreck.
So how long was he supposed to wait for them to rescue his son?

The track probably pays hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in insurance and liability costs
One clause in their insurance contract is probably something about only having properly certified emergency and health professionals conduct operations.
Blame this stupidity on our asinine tort-law system.

The discipline action is understandable. They have to do something (even though very light). He was not equipped with fire resistant clothing, no helmet for protection, no extinguisher. A crisis team guy was only five seconds behind him and had everything need to keep flames back.
More than likely, he was told "Don't do that again." while being given a slap on the back and told "Attaboy!". And, in spite of the "rules", it is understandable why the father leapt into action.

Mr. Jones will not be fined nor suspended, South Boston Speedway said
in a statement. He has been placed on probation through the end of the year.
We have sat down with Mr. Jones and discussed what transpired on Saturday,
and he fully understands our position on non-safety personnel entering the track
surface during an event. We are all grateful that there werent any injuries,
and we look forward to getting back to racing.

______________
That five seconds in a car fire (speaking from experience) can mean, literally, the difference between life and death. I’d do it in a heartbeat, wash, rinse and repeat.

It’s part of the long list of screw-ups that has led to NASCAR being placed on the auction block.
