Ringworld was sort of soft scifi. He literally created the “Big Dumb Object” that gave scientists and MIT students frets.
His “Motie” works and other CoDominium stuff was much more solid on science.

I know it wasn’t perfectly hard science, but could you imagine a cable of Neutronium 1 neutron wide? I wish I could get it on a chefs knife edge. What to use as a cutting board OTOH would be an issue.
