Man evicted from Great Bay home acquired by Fish & Game
Foster's Daily Democrat ^ | June 16, 2018 | Elizabeth Dinan

"McGee said after his sister’s death, Emery approached Fish and Game about extending the life estate so he could stay on the property while he’s undergoing cancer treatments.

“He was hoping Fish and Game would let him stay longer, maybe until he died,” McGee said. “They considered it, they said it’s not supposed to be residential, it’s supposed to be open, so unfortunately no. It’s clear they’re not going to give us more time.”

No good deed goes unpunished. They should have kept the property in private hands.

“I’m extended until Sept. 1 but I still have to find an auctioneer and I’m right in the middle of chemo, feeling awful, but they don’t give a damn,” Emery said last week. “I’m the guy who put this whole damn deal together so it wouldn’t be developed on the bay.”

He sure put together a crappy deal.

I'm sure I'm supposed to feel sympathetic, but this seems really straight-forward and the guy doesn't have a leg to stand on. He sold the property to the state. This is the epitome of Having his cake and eating it too. The deal said his sister could live there until she died. Not him.

Who got the money, and where’d it go after the property was sold to the Conservancy?

This is the epitome of Having his cake and eating it too.

Or, conversely, the epitome of eating his cake and having it too.

I do not know. Foster’s had the only story on him I could find when I posted the story this morning, which was then sent to the moderator. I haven’t been able to look up any more about it. Have a good night.

The ex-owners got 1.066 million dollars in 1998 for this piece of land. AND, a life estate for the person who just died. I don’t know how the guy who wants to continue to stay there thinks he has any claim in the matter. Looks like an open and shut case to me.
