“Does the $35,000 include a fire extinguisher?”

Over 200,000 gas powered cars self-ignite each year in the US! this is a much higher rate than for electric cars.

Additional gas cars can explode and even the fires are more severe.

Gas cars burning is so common it doesn’t even make the news.

And how many gas powered cars are on the road? How many Tesla’s?

Shall we discuss self driving cars now?

Is it??

253 million gas vehicles on the road, 200k fires = 0.09%.

Tesla just announce their 300,000 vehicle made. That would only allow 300 vehicle fires.

200 thousand spontaneous fires sounds a bit high... According to the National Fire Protection Association there were 174,000 car fires in 2015, the last year they have stats for. They actually have stats going back to 1980 when there were 456 thousand car fires. The overwhelming majority of vehicle fires were caused by accident... A car colliding with another car or object. Outright engine fires do occur and they usually occur because of poor engine maintenance or aftermarket installs, not manufacturing defects. Pretty much every Tesla fire can be traced to poor production quality and manufacturing defects.

Electric cars will never be affordable by common vehicle buyers, and the only reason why they’re even somewhat affordable to the rich and famous is because of government tax subsidies... Without them, there would be no electric car market except for the market that existed previous to subsidies... Vehicle Geeks and rich people with plenty of money to blow. Electric vehicles have been around since the beginning of the 20th century and who knows... In another century or two, maybe they will even be practical. As of today... They are not.

That’s why of the 17+ million vehicles sold each year in the United States alone... Less than 100 thousand of so are Electric cars.

that would be one self-igniting gas car for every 16,000,000 miles driven in a year in the U.S.

I wonder what that figure would be for Teslas?
