I thought the Tesla 3s were already out? I’ve seen quite a few of them in recent weeks - on the other hand, I work not too far from the Tesla corporate headquarters in Palo Alto and maybe I’ve been seeing pre-release cars?

Yes they are, the big battery Option laden long range version. Not the base model 3 with a significantly shorter range and no tricked out Auto Pilot feature. (unless you cough up another 8K)
Tesla touts are fond of quoting stats for the highest end models but the price from the lowest-priced models of which none are actually available.
Typical current price of Tesla 3 actually delivered is around $50k. Typical Tesla S delivered price is well north of $100k.
