. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Thursday morning had both good and bad news for President Trump and his party. The good news was that optimism about the direction of the country and the percentage of people believing that the economy is improving are both up from the last NBC/WSJ poll in April. Not surprisingly, the president’s job approval was up, as we have seen in other polling of late.
The bad news for Trump and the GOP is that even with that hopeful news, Republicans are 10 points behind Democrats on the closely-watched generic congressional ballot, while the president’s numbers—albeit improved — are still really bad and underwater. Democrats have a substantial advantage in intensity going into this midterm election, and respondents said, by a very wide margin, that they prefer voting for a candidate that would provide a check on Trump. In short, people see things as getting better, but Republicans — particularly in the House — are still in deep trouble.
The nationwide survey of 900 registered voters, conducted jointly by Democratic pollster Fred Yang of Hart Research and Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies, showed the share of voters believing that the country is headed in the right direction was up 5 points from the April NBC/WSJ poll, from 31 to 36 percent, while those saying off the country was off on the wrong track was down 7 points, 62 to 55 percent. The late Richard Wirthlin, who served as President Reagan’s pollster and popularized the right-direction/wrong-track question, used to refer to it as “the Dow Jones indicator of American politics,” a useful barometer of midterm-election mood.

And why should anyone believe polls after their colossal failure in 2016? There are few conservatives who are polled, but they do vote.

“Numbers” showed that Clintoon was going to clean President Trump’s clock back in November 2016. The “numbers” were so wrong that the “media” clowns had to come up with their wacky “Russki collusion” conspiracy theory to justify their failure of getting “I’m With Her” elected.
The Paul Ryan GOP deserves to be in deep trouble. The Donald Trump GOP is doing fine. :)
These fools pick the widest, most slanted “generic preference” poll they can find and run with it as the rationale for concluding the GOP will be wiped out in November.
So you Democrats, Greens, Socialists and the like don’t need to vote. Just sleep-in, go to a movie or play Magic: The Gathering. Nancy Pelosi has this taken care of. She’ll even have a pizza or Chinese food delivered if you ask nicely.
No mystery here - everyone knows exactly what the VAST majority of Americans want to see.
Move in that direction - decisively - and Republicans will have no problem whatsoever for decades to come.
These fake poll results will be rammed down our throats from now until November. All of them are used to discourage Republicans and encourage Democrats.

Consider the source. It’s NBC, we already know that it comes with a built in bias. Remember how close to right they were in 2016? That’s how accurate they are now.
So voters are happy with the direction of the country but will vote to reverse everything anyway. Gruber was right.
Republicans lost the House this week with Ryan’s amnesty plan.
Well, I don’t see why everyone isn’t champing at the bit to run out and return a bunch of traitorous Vichy Republicans to power.
Sorry, GOP. The game is over. There are three parties in this country now - the MAGA Party, the Enemy (which includes much of the GOP), and the Crazies (Pelosi’s party). Politicians who don’t explicitly identify themselves as MAGA members can take a hike.
Ryan is pushing Amnesty to hurt Trump . Trump better kill this Amnesty or he is cooked .
And Paul Ryan is working as hard as possible to assure that the GOP loses the House. If the Republicans pass a DACA/Amnesty bill, they will lose the House and Ryan will make millions for his treachery after he leaves office.
Yes Charlie the Republicans are in deep trouble now take your meds and go back to your room to help Democrats figure out what they will run on besides hating Trump.
