Seeing images of the WTC makes me sad, and then it makes me mad.
I worked in NYC around 9/11. I walked by the Twin Towers often. I loved them.
Post-9/11 when I was working near Ground Zero, I walked to see "the pit" (as it was called). As I got closer, EVERY PERSON walking toward me/away from the pit was either crying, had a look of horror or sorrow on their face, or they looked furious...some had a mix of all these emotions on their face. Every person looked that way...black, white, Hispanic, whatever.
When I got there, I called Mrs DoodleBob and said "they're gone....they're just gone." I can't explain the vast emptiness I saw AND felt. My words didn't do it justice.
Walking back to the office, I was one of the guys who looked furious.
