Here in the southwest, having a pit bull is a status symbol for a certain group of the population. They (and Chihuahuas) are the most common breed of dog that end up at the shelter due to being turned in, abandonment or escape from the owner.
Here in the Midwest, all the meth-heads have pits and they also play ‘breeder’ but don’t know the first thing about breeding. So now you have ahole owners improperly breeding/inbreeding pit bulls. Most don’t get fed regularly since meth-heads are always broke. Most don’t get training at all or what little training they get is in the form of a kick in the face.
