I have heard that suggestion before - put your purse or briefcase in the backseat - not necessarily because you value them more but because you have taken your purse/briefcase with you
every time you leave the car for years.
I would do that now even if I was the parent that usually dropped off the baby/child. You only have to be distracted once.
