“You do not ever forget your kids.”

I’m not singling you out, as many posted here the same sentiments. The Devil roams around like a ravenous lion looking for who he can destroy. Can you think of a worse way to destroy a mom or dad?

If you are a believer, you should be aware and pray for your children’s protection all the time. In the prayer Jesus taught us, it ends with “Deliver us from evil”.

Disgusting.

I saw branding being done on The Pioneer Woman’s show (she’s married to a major rancher in Oklahoma).

I love ranchers and I love beef. I believe that beef is slowly disappearing from our food shelves.

People used to ride without using seatbelts. They were free to do so.
My Dad's 59 Chevy convertible didn't have seat belts. And car seats were practically unheard of. My Mom would hold my baby brother when we drove around. Whenever the weather was nice she'd warn me in no uncertain terms to KEEP YOUR HANDS IN THE CAR OR THE TOP GOES UP!!!! Y-Y-Yes Mom! Needless to say the law changed. A friend of mine restored a 1941 Buick, kept it original down to the original Fireball straight 8. Even though it had no seat belts when it was new, because his daughters were 7 and 4 at the time, at least in N.Y. seat belts and car seats MUST be installed in ANY car that kids ride in. It's one law that makes good sense.

“How can you forget it in the car? “

They don’t. They just don’t want to take the child with them and use the “I forgot!” as an excuse when things go wrong.

“Seriously? Do you really think this could not happen to you”

No way. They don’t want to take the child and claim they forgot. No one forgets a passenger in their car, especially not a child. No one.

If you’re that stupid, you couldn’t possibly feed yourself.

Put your purse, briefcase, whatever you need for work or in general, in the back.

Then you WILL open the back to get your needed item. Hopefully, you will notice your child back there as well.

I agree with that completely. I have not bashed the parents when hearing about this happening because in my opinion that is what is happening.

I was the caregiver for my children, my husband helped when he was home or we went together to run errands. I did not work when my children were little. When I left kids with my mother to go out or get away for a weekend I felt like I was missing something the entire time, it was ingrained in my mind. I can see how people who are working, sharing child care, and using other care givers can forget THEY have the baby at that particular moment. They are not forgetting they have a baby, they are forgetting they have the baby at that instant because they are not used to always having the baby, not part of their normal routine.

I had a hard time comprehending until I read a few stories, realized different parents doing day care drop off and one forgetting to do the drop off are the most common way it happens.

When I was little it was actually common for parents to leave children in the car while running quick errands, windows were left all the way down, no one bothered children or other people’s cars and things then, different time. I can remember having a coloring book in the car and seeing other children in nearly every other car in the parking lot. Those days were already changing when I was a child in the 50s but long past before I had children. If someone went back in a time machine to a parking lot then they would see children in cars, rifle racks with rifles in pickup back windows- depending on weather windows all down, that was normal then. No vehicles locked to protect firearms or children because no one bothered either one.

Two manufacturers – GM and Hyundai – have entered the ring with possible solutions, and there are hundreds (if not thousands) of aftermarket gadgets available. Middle school kids make it their science fair project. Some inventors approach it from a tech angle – an app on your phone, a sensor to light up your keyfob – and some from a more rudimentary one – a stuffed toy on the seat as a reminder, additional mirrors.

My Volkswagen displays a message whenever I turn off the car...

“Please don’t forget your Cell Phone.”

I’ve looked and looked on line and in the owners manual on how to reprogram it to say...

“Please don’t forget your Baby.”

But that isn’t an option.

Nice to know where VW places THEIR priorities.

“But I think in other instances people are just too stressed and harried these days.”

call it stress, multitasking etc,

it’s just a nice way to say the parent/guardian chose not to prioritize the priority.

Having a child makes caring for the child your #1 job until they are mature enough to do things for themselves and eventually live outside your home.

Especially little kids left in car seats, they have no chance of helping themselves to get out other than to cry and hope to God some one hears them and helps.

Children should never be left in the car, due to the number of whackos and evil people wandering. Common sense should be used about animals seen in a car...it is hot?

I used to take a little dog with me, people would freak if I left her in the car in the winter- because they thought she would get hot because that is what they hear. People wearing coats telling me I was horrible to leave her in the truck and she was perfectly happy. I live in the high desert so rarely was the issue it being too cold when it was I left her home. No one has common sense any more, I had to quit taking my dog because of stupid people.

I have heard of people breaking windows for dogs when the A/C was on. I have heard of people throwing a fit because police would not break a window for a pet that was not in any distress. I have no idea why people are so easily brain washed now and no common sense to assess anything.

People who run horses in pastures are having issues because if people can’t see feed and water for the horse they report the horse is starving, even if the horse is FAT and totally healthy. If the horse is not in a small pen with water and feed where they can see it, they decide the horse is abandoned or neglected. They do not have the concept that the food and water is in another part of the pasture they cannot see, or that the horse is eating grass and will hike in to his water and get a drink when he is thirsty.

It is crazy out there!

In the U.S., 751 children have died of heatstroke in cars since 1998. The average is 37 per year; the Canadian average is four to six deaths annually.

U.S. population in 2018 = 326 million, x 37 deaths = .000000000001288%

Canada population in 2018 = 37 million x 5 deaths = . 000013513513514%

Therefore, even though the U.S. has areas of higher temperatures in her Southern regions, the U.S. rate of deaths from this cause (as a percentage of population) is greatly lower than Canada's.

Exactly. It breaks my heart when I see this.

I can see a dad, preoccupied with work, stresses, etc. who usually doesn't do the daycare drop off--just not remembering.

Daycare is the worst "invention". Ever.

I used to get a cold chill thinking about what if I had gone all the way to the office and just forgotten she was in the car. It never happened, but it made me realize it was probably close to happening on a few occasions.

My son was super quiet. (as opposed to my daughter who never stopped talking). On the odd occasion I was out and about with just him, I would have these irrational moments where, not hearing a peep out of him, I'd be convinced I left him in the shopping cart. Obviously, I never did, but I can tell you I even pulled over a time or two in a panic to check.

Yes cattle are still branded if they are ran in a ranch situation in fields or pastures, most states require them to be branded. Registered cattle kept in a show environment may or may not be branded now, that can go either way.

I have been around ranchers all my life in 4 states and have never once heard of a rancher neglecting cattle because of depression, it could happen- not saying it hasn’t- just seems rare enough I am wondering why it came to mind. Cattle being neglected is rare and every time I have seen it happen it was because the person trusted to do so was not responsible enough. Hired help, kids being trusted to feed and especially water livestock and they don’t do it is the usual cause when cattle are neglected and that is still rare. Ranchers letting cattle get far too thin waiting for rain/grass is the most common neglect and thank goodness that is getting far more rare, since feed of all types is more readily available now than years ago.
