Trump at G7: Who's who in Merkel's photo?
It was always slated to be a tense and awkward G7 summit and an Instagram post from the official account of German Chancellor Angela Merkel appears to have captured one of those moments.
Here's a who's who of the people pictured, and where they stand on the trade row:
1. Donald Trump, US president:
Mr Trump shocked America's allies - namely the EU, Mexico and Canada - when he recently announced a 25% tariff on imports of steel and 10% on aluminium from these countries. They are all threatening retaliatory measures and the rift overshadowed the summit, leaving the American president isolated at times. Mr Trump departed early, complaining that America was "like the piggy bank that everybody is robbing". But his relationship with fellow G7 leaders was at "10 out of 10".
2. John Bolton, US national security adviser:
It's been just three months since he was appointed President Trump's top security adviser but John Bolton has already made an impact. One of the president's arguments for the tariffs is on "national security grounds" - a view Mr Bolton has stridently backed.
3. Unidentified
4. Shinzo Abe, Japan's prime minister:
He has come under increased pressure to join retaliatory measures against America's steep tariffs. This puts him in a difficult position - he has tried hard to cultivate a warm relationship with President Trump and the two are said to have met at least 10 times since he was elected to the White House.
5. Yasutoshi Nishimura, Japanese deputy chief cabinet secretary
6. Angela Merkel, German chancellor:
7. Emmanuel Macron, French president:
8. Theresa May, UK prime minister:
9. Larry Kudlow, director of the US National Economic Council:

Who’s the BULLY. Body language says a lot.
Remember, Merkel graduated from the University of Karl Marx.
The problem with the six members of the G7 group...is that they really can’t be competitive anymore on the market-place. They need the system to be arranged in a way that their companies survive on....making prices at inflated prices to pay for their own healthcare program, taxes, and pension programs.
If you remove all tariffs....then they have to be competitive and their markets will spiral with less ‘gift’ money being there for the governments to hand back to the public or their favorite causes.
Add to the level of dimwittedness....the fact that other than Macron...none of the other members of the G7 have any business background or understand the basic concept of capitalism and it’s weird necessary to exist if you are a socialist state.
I would add this comment too....concerning the list of topics that often come up at the G7 meetings, it’s a waste of time for Germany, Italy, France and the UK (until BREXIT) to attend. They no longer control their economic trade system....the EU controls it. Same for climate control...the EU is the chief agent. There’s no logical reason for Merkel to attend.
It’s probably time for G7 to evolve. Make it the US, Japan, China, Russia, the EU, South Korea, and Canada.
Merkel’s photo? Laughable, it’s Trump’s defiance of the pack.
Great photo.
The body language is fascinating.
My thoughts exactly. It’s a classic photo, but Merkel’s not the point of it. It’s amazing how the media twists everything to avoid being even slightly complimentary to Trump.
LOL, it’s obvious who’s in control of that room.
Merkel appears to be quite casual, tired and proud.
;-)
That’s a good assessment of the body language. :-)
I believe THAT photo will get him reelected in 2020.
Americans, traditionally, love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, the big league ball players, the toughest boxers. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time.
Merkel signifies the classic “Road to Serfdom.”
It is time to strip off all controls and let the chips fall where they may.
All we need for this pic is some sound from the old “Hitler finds out...” video meme.
It seems to me that at the moment of the photo, Merkel may have been objecting, but everyone was looking skeptically at Macron.
Yes: Everyone thinking - Seriously? at some global bs Frenchy is spouting. Meanwhile, Frau Angie is stepping in to defend her weak prison b**** https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=john+scott+tim+jackman&view=detail&mid=65E77CD2144BFDF6B49B65E77CD2144BFDF6B49B&FORM=VIRE
Men, all this stuff you hear about America not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of bullshit. Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, the big-league ball players and the toughest boxers. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time. That's why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. The very thought of losing is hateful to Americans. Battle is the most significant competition in which a man can indulge. It brings out all that is best and it removes all that is base.

The real point being, you can't read much from an isolated candid shot.
