I’ve done that and other than finding some references to a few of the men mentioned in the SLA Marshal story (like Taylor), there is nothing identifying all 47 men that he’s referenced. If you search free republic, you’ll see this has been posted in prior years and no one has been able to find out all of the guys referenced by Marshall in that 47 immortals line. It’s a shame really. How we’ve already forgotten these great men.

Maybe the writer got it wrong, mis-remembered a story and there were no 'forty-seven immortals of Omaha'.

Maybe it was just based on a personal story someone told who they consider the '47 immortals'; like a personal nickname among friends.

How about posting your question and link on various WWII websites and discussion threads besides this one.
