UPDATED, 10:47AM: Industry estimates this morning are pegging around $33M today for Disneys Solo: A Star Wars Story with a $80M-$90M three-day and $105M-$115M play over four days. Thats a very early read on opening figures, which do not come from Disney. We could see a different picture by tonight. We hear that exit polls showed a four-out-five stars and that there should be a promising turnout by boys tomorrow.

Saw it also. Loved it! Not the best Star Wars movie but it’s far from the stinker that Attack of the Clones was.
The actor lacks gravitas for the role.
Harrison Ford had it but Alden Ehrenreich does not.
I agree. The last episode was a disaster, though. Two words. Laura Dern.
A complete mess of a movie. Star Wars Holiday Special bad. By far the worst of any film with the Star Wars name attached. Garbage.
Look, whatever your personal thoughts on the Vietnam War were, let me remind you that our reason for being there was to stop Communism. Or do I have to remind you that the guys Lucas based the Rebels and Ewoks on were the same guys who proceeded to do roadside bombings on school buses, forcibly amputate kids and force them to run back to their parents in patty fields to intimidate them into skipping out on voting, and killing people in the most brutal of ways? How can anyone view those guys as even remotely “heroic”, even IF we truly shouldn’t have been in Vietnam (and BTW, since we vowed to prevent Communism to get a foothold in Southeast Asia, we had an obligation to go in).
That said, I do agree with you, this is most likely even worse.
Yeah, no kidding (especially when fascism is actually of the left). Though ironically enough, of the three, the Empire actually CAN make a claim to being rightist in the monarchist manner, or at least the Francisco Franco manner. In the old Expanded Universe at least, it was actually pro-free markets (just look at the Corporate Sector, which had its territories expanded under the Empire, and the Empire actually allowed them to do transparent mercantilism without any interference. At least, that’s what the Imperial Handbook: A Commander’s Guide claimed), something fascism and communism clearly aren’t.
I think Phantom Menace and 2 and 3 of the prequels were worse. Such deadpan line recitation from all the main characters. Best realistic character of all was the chancellor/emperor.
Remember Menace crapped JarJar onto us all. For 3 movies.
