China slashes tariffs on imported cars

China is cutting the tariffs it charges on imported cars, giving a potential boost to foreign automakers in the world's largest market.

The Chinese Finance Ministry said Tuesday that it will cut import duties on passenger vehicles from 25% to 15%, starting July 1.

The announcement, which fulfills an earlier pledge by Chinese President Xi Jinping, comes just days after China and the United States agreed to a ceasefire in their recent trade hostilities.

President Donald Trump singled China's import duties on cars for criticism last month, pointing out that they're far higher than the 2.5% the United States charges on imported cars. "Does that sound like free or fair trade?"

Not quite. Still too high. I could see 45 raising our tariff to Chinese cars to match it.

Time to start doing that, frankly - reciprocity.

Step in the right direction but not nearly enough. We all know isn’t done yet. Imagine the “leadership” in the country were behind him even a tenth of the way they were behind Obama or Clinton...heck, even Bush

We need reciprocity all around. All businesses should have a chance in selling products to China. Auto’s and their supply lines shouldn’t be the only winners.

Isn’t it great that the ChiComs are leading the way! (full sarcasm!)?

The reality is more winning by President Trump to MAGA!

“The announcement, which fulfills an earlier pledge by Chinese President Xi Jinping, comes just days after China and the United States agreed to a ceasefire in their recent trade hostilities.”

“President Donald Trump singled China’s import duties on cars for criticism last month, pointing out that they’re far higher than the 2.5% the United States charges on imported cars.”

The above is happening in spite of all the negative BS posted by the Never Trumpsters after President Trump said no more trade imbalances.

Winning is good for America.

Sectoral reciprocity should have been our trade policy all along.

There’s a balance on the steel tariffs to consider.

They’re coming. That’s what a lot of this is about, opening our market to Chinese vehicles.

They want to sell their cars here, and suddenly we are saying no.

By November, people will know why were are letting ZTE off the hook. SORT of related to trade, but really related to espionage. ZTE is cooperating it seems.
