My inclination, regarding Adolf, is to trust the French implicitly. I have observed in my world travels, after all, that every French man's father was a heroic member of the Resistance, starting at around June 1945.

Ah, in the French tv series, "A French Village" (small town in Vichy France, from the beginning on), some of the women in the resistance were communists, and extremely blood-thirsty.

(de Gaulle's political hacks were just as bad, wanting dead examples of collaborators, regardless of the evidence and/or rationale.)

Not surprised you don't hear much about their mothers being in the Resistance.
