The more I learn about octopi, the more I am impressed by their intelligence. I recall a story about a couple that saved an octopus by pulling it back out to sea and that octopus came back the next day and followed that couple along the beach and tried to touch them in a nonagressive way. That octopus was smart enough to recognize that couple and apparently wanted to form some sort of bond. They are amazing animals but I don’t think they’re from outer space.

Giant squids are astonishing, too. Like bats, they reverse the usual positive correlation between size and longevity. Bats live much longer than most mammals, although they’re among the smallest, while immense squid live only a few years.

Wonderful creatures but definitely from our Earth. Study of the zoological sciences could help the writer understand the symmetry in body types and the relationship amongst groups.

The octopuses vs octopodes vs octopi - Greek vs Latin origin adds to the fun.
