Sometimes I get the feeling it's 1938 all over again and we're hearing Orson Welles reading "War of the Worlds" to a captivated, gullible audience.

Especially when the countdown we thought would start on the 15th and you were reading off the events of 9/11. It took me a second or two and a few clicks around the web to realize you were trying to sync history.com with the KJAQ playlist and I was thinking history was repeating itself. Argh.

Just as when WOTW was broadcast, we have huge segments of the world who have no concept of "Qanon", some who call it fantasy and others who are totally living, breathing and making life decisions just as those who were believing that the earth was being invaded by aliens with death rays back in 1938.

I must admit to wavering at times, especially when deadlines or commitments are constantly being pushed out (IG report, Mueller's never ending witch hunt, "pain rain-check" etc.). I just shake my head and think "o'well the clinton/obama cabal skates again, same song, 100th verse".

It's easy for me to be patient, I'm old. No skin off my nose. I've had my hopes up too many times only to be burned, I'm a bit jaded. But I do remember the Y2K scare and the doom and gloom of those days (grid going down, no food, blah blah). Billions spent on software upgrades. It was concerning living in a neighborhood, having kids at home and working at a tech company that was supposedly susceptible. I can empathize with the current many who worry what might happen if the military is deployed stateside and some freedoms are trampled and their young lives are overturned.

Only to wake up to a 4:00AM drop blowing us a big raspberry and everybody laughing at us.. Double Argh!!!

I never was very concerned with Y2k. Seemed like a problem that programmers could solve, and enough time to get it done.

We live in an area that gets hit with tornadoes and has periodic power outages, so we stay pretty well prepared all the time anyway.

When oil prices spike, I buy up extra groceries for all the stuff we use on a regular basis. Restock what’s used when there’s a sale @ old prices.
