Isn't Lieberman an independent after being ostracized for his support of the war in Iraq?Kinda/sorta. Lieberman ran as an Independent because his own party threw him under the bus and nominated someone else. So Joe ran as an Independent and won anyway. And then, once he was elected....he caucused with the 'rats who had stabbed him in the back (they showed 'em!). So, I guess he's a DIABLO (Democrat In All But Label Only).
