I hope McCain doesn’t even attend his own funeral, I hope he goes directly to HELL.
I don’t give a rat’s a$$ what did or did not happen to John McCain as a POW. His behavior, and actions as a civilian, and Senator speak far more for the character of John McCain than what occurred behind the walls of a POW camp. I can’t Judge him for his actions in North Vietnam, but I can certainly judge him as a U.S. Senator, and in that position, he has been sorely lacking for a very long time. He’s been nothing but a self-serving bastard from the beginning of his far too-long political career. Leopards don’t change their spots. The seeds of McCain’s bitterness and selfishness were sowed long before he ever crashed his jet. He had the choice to do something good with his war experiences. He chose poorly.
All this funeral talk is the least of his worries.

The movie could have easily been a hit on the Catholic Church. If so, it was effective in that it took many years for me to move beyond that and see the church as a whole instead of one incident. Many on the left refuse to take that holistic view. They never get past their own closed-off world.
I doubt McCain is in charge right now.
The short answer to the question is no.
I see that both you and John McCain are of the same theological persuasion. Yours is a dangerous, no fatal, assumption. I do hope that both of you examine the evidence carefully.
Prayers for his soul.
The only thing that can save John McCains soul is himself, by accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. I hope he has made that decision, or will make that decsison before it is too late.
