MANY years ago the Boston Globe stopped printing the home addresses of those that died when publishing the obituaries——and it was because of burglaries that took place during the hours of the funeral and/or wake—(if not held at the home).

Where I moved from, we had three cops, a married couple and a friend, watching the football schedules of the smaller towns around our city, tag the parents of the players, and when the game was being played, would rob the player’s families homes. Got caught because they were using a police car as cover, thinking no one would notice a police car from the neighboring city. However, a local officer did, and caught them in the act.
Also, never announce on Facebook that you’re on vacation and away from the house.

Weddings as well. I recall a neighbor coming over sitting at the house full of wedding presents while we were at my older sibling’s weddings.
Unfortunately, not a new thing. Crooks have been doing this for years. If only they worked this hard at getting jobs and being productive, life would be easier for everyone.

About 7 years ago one of my grandsons,who was about 13 at the time, posted about vacation plans on FB-——I happened to catch it about an hour after he posted it,called my daughter and she removed it.
Kids don’t have a clue——and this young man never looks at FB now-——moved on to something else.:-)

I have actually house sat for family and friends who were involved with weddings and funerals. It’s sad but people can be total scum.
I think that she should run for office. She has that thieving thing down pat. And thieves need representation too. If she learns from her mistake she will be able to rob her constituents blind without them knowing. She can’t be any worse than that crazy woman from california.
In the south someone ALLWAYS sits at the house during funerals for this very reason.
In a better world a homeowner would catch her in the act and shoot her...
When my father passed away, our neighbor across the street moved his pickup truck into our driveway and stayed outside walking around until Mom & I returned from the funeral. Fine neighbors to this day since Mom is in assisted living and wife & I have to sell the house.
He said later several cars slowed down in front of the house then quickly sped on when they saw him.
Worthless vultures! I hope they get shot by a grieving homeowner.
Well duh.
When would YOU rob homes? While people are THERE? That is how you get shot.

I post every single time I’m gone. Because Hubby is Home and would just love for someone to try and break in. Figure I’d make his day. Lol
