You would have thought that the 500th anniversary of Luther and the Reformation would have been a landmark year throughout Germany. Beyond the theological implications which some still debate, its impact upon the West opened up society to modern learning, commerce, and science. It is the dividing line between the old and the new.
In Germany the anniversary was hardly a blip. Nada.
