Mea culpa. I see that Alabama is the region for nekkid Waffle House. Cause it’s cold in the North. Pity us, we only have IHOP. :-)

It seems to me that there used to be a Waffle House Ping List that I was on. Maybe it has gone the way of the dodo.

Just because The New York Times has a stupid attitude towards southern institutions doesn’t mean we all do. Some of us eat in Waffle Houses when traveling and enjoy them and the polite southern atmosphere. Nothing good ever happens after 1am in a bar or diner - including NYC. I don’t know why the Times doubled down on the recent murder there when my brother just finished jury duty on a murder that occurred after midnight in a Harlem diner.

You have a good memory. I went back quite a few years and found that there was indeed a Waffle House ping list at one time.

Many years ago I was stationed at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio. My number came up and I was sent to Squadron Officers School in Montgomery, AL. My bride of a few months and I drove down to Montgomery. Our first morning there, we found that if you eat in a restaurant there, you WILL be served grits, whether you ordered them or not, regardless of the time of day.
