I haven’t really followed this case too closely.
I just don’t understand why the hospital is trying so desperately hard to kill one of its patients. They seem to think that particular outcome is their highest priority.

Because they don’t care about this kid, but they do care about precedence. They know if they let him go many other Christians will demand the same for their sick kids.
Can’t have that!
I’ll bet if the kid was a Muslim and the parents wanted to fly him to Riyadh they’d pave the way pronto.

They have proclaimed him as being a hopeless case. That is their basis for denying care. If he is taken elsewhere, and recovers, then that sets a precedent that can be used to second-guess their decisions later. They do not want to allow that to happen.
