Yes, this tactic is used by other candidates to kick people off the ballot, happens a lot here in Illinois. But that’s no excuse, if you do it right you get on the ballot, period, and don’t get thrown off.
He shouldn’t have hired this numb-nuts firm that screwed up, should went with one of the many others who do their job every 2 years with no problems and paid them to collect *at least* twice as many sigs as necessary, I’d go for 3 times as many if it were me.
Good news for Darryl Glenn, if Lamborn’s appeal fails.
I was rooting for Glenn even before Lamborns unfortunate screw-up with the ballots. I want Glenn to be elected, be a kick-ass conservative Representative for four years, and then beat Democrat Senator Bennet in 2022.
Lamborn actually did gather like twice as many signatures as he needed, and even after a bunch were thrown out (presumably because they came from persons who were not residents of CO-05) he still had several hundred signatures to spare. His problem was that two his signature-gatherers were not Colorado residents, so all of the signatures gathered and certified by those two out-of-staters had to be thrown out. It never ceases to amaze me how veteran politicians keep managing to mess up this simplest of tasks by hiring signature-gatherers who arent qualified and/or commit outright fraud.
That is my complaint also, I live west of the springs and have been hoping to someday have a congress critter that would speak up and be heard. I voted for his opponent last primary so maybe we get lucky this time around.
I agree with you about Lamborn being lackluster. I would vote for someone else in the primary if there was anyone better running, but unfortunately there aren’t a lot of good republican candidates in Colorado. Lamborn usually votes the right way, and I will support him over Darryl Glenn any day. Glenn screwed up his political career when he called for Trump to pull out of the 2016 election. That showed he was only looking out for himself and didn’t understand how important that election was.
I didn't now that.
There aren't many enthusiastic trump supporting politicians in Colorado, but the republican voters here support him overwhelmingly, and he drew huge crowds during the 2016 campaign. The out of touch republican establishment here is a major problem. We need better republican candidates along with more successful tactics to combat voter fraud to have any chance at reversing course. It won't be easy, but we have to keep fighting back
