LM doesn’t want the IRS taking the inheritance to pay off his existing tax bills.
Can’t feel much sympathy for someone who hasn’t paid back the money he borrowed from the government, or who owes back taxes. Folks need to pay what they owe, rather than me making up the difference!
If he has existing tax bills, he should be thrilled to pay them.
And we should be thrilled that he is paying them too.
I have to pay my taxes. Why shouldn’t he? Minimizing a tax bill is fine. But you owe what you owe.
