Bttt
OMG I'M GOING INTO CONVULSIONS
A smoked Texas brisket is still as safe as ever.
Going to have to require the producers to provide Porta-Potties and a two weeks of training on their use to our illegal Jose, Juan, etc. lettuce pickers or add to the ingredients list of “Undocumented Wee Wee”.
I’m sure you will be fine, most people are. That being said e-coli can cause hemolytic uremic syndrome which is a form of kidney failure that can be fatal especially for children. The warning really isn’t alarmist, it’s good public health.
Is Juan still offering $50.00 an hour to pick lettuce? I’ll go down for the whole season.
pathologicial e coli strains can also come from cattle.
HHmmmmm....just finished my dinner....including Romaine Lettuce...this happened about 3 months ago, and I mentioned it to the Trader Joe’s produce guy (they were still selling it)....and he’d never heard anything about it, and they never pulled their Romaine.
I had romaine lettuce this evening, too.
It was packed in Santa Maria, California, in northern Santa Barbara County.
If its not one factory farm... and its not one processing station... food terrorism?
Whenever my wife extolls “organic” produce, I remind her if they do not use chemicals, likely it is fertilized the old way. Illegals are quite comfortable with that, save a trip to the smelly port-a-potties.
If the pickers simultaneously provide fertilizer, therein lies the problem.
I’m also going to steer clear of lima beans, just to be safe.
We ALWAYS wash our lettuce and use a Tupperware salad spinner. Clean dry lettuce.

Who picks the lettuce, again?
