Well we were both there for 3 of the years. 8>) My dad's tour of duty there was only 3 years 1958-1961 Which means I didn't see my favorite vehicle when it was first sold in dealerships:

I would love to get my hands on a 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible & do a resto mod. Classic styling with modern power & handling. 8>)

A 1957 would be a nice fallback, with the single front headlights, but I prefer the double headlights. Though I do like the 1957 rear end. Perhaps I could find a 1958 front end & a 1957 rear end and marry the two someway. 8>)

Akitas are beautiful, majestic dogs. I have heard they dont guard bark though. They just wait until strangers are in range and then bite without warning. No clue if this is true. Akita puppies probably need tons of socialization.

A Dogs Story was a great movie, but it is baffling why they modernized it. Why couldn’t they just tell the original story straight. Are they afraid we could not relate to an old Japanese man instead of a younger white man? Maybe they lacked the money to mimick 1920s Japan? I for one would have appreciated the authentic story, not a modern western version. A universal story like this does not need tobe westernized.

I made six crossings of the Pacific on MSTS in the ten years I mentioned. The usual plan was Seattle-Yokohama and Yokohama-Seattle.
The last return trip in ‘61 was aboard the General W. A. Mann, into Oakland, CA.

On arrival, my dad hailed a cab and picked up a new 1961 Buick station wagon at Lane Buick in Oakland. He returned to the dock, packed up our carry ons and drove home to southern Iowa where I finished growing up.

We made a one day stop in Honolulu on the final voyage and visited the royal palace and Honolulu zoo.

I wonder what happened to all those MSTS ships...

It can depend on the dog, I owned an Akita as a kid and she would bark most of the time.
