It has been RAW! Rainy, cold, wind gusts up to 45 MPH! We got the greenhouse buckled down yesterday - thank goodness! Rain for another day, then SNOW Sunday evening into Monday. northern Wisconsin is going to get SOCKED, but we're to get 1-3". So, I've been playing inside...

'Red Peacock' Amaryllis and Zonal Geranium, 'Tangerine.'

My tomato seedlings are growing too fast for the outdoor weather!

Wednesday was GORGEOUS, so we got 4 more fruit trees planted - Northstar Cherry, Reliance Peach and two Clapp's Favorite Pears.

The barn in the background is the one that will be replaced with a pole barn - that will still look like a barn.

Wow, nice list! Thanks for all your work. Not to discount what you’ve done, but we’ve found a local farm supply sells fertilizer pretty cheap, if you’re looking for a 50 lb bag. I got 8 bags for about $100 yesterday. You don’t get all the options that HD or Lowe’s has though.

400 lbs for about 100.00 is very cheap, versus the lowest i found (All-Purpose Fertilizer, 10-10-10, 35-Lbs for 11.88 = 315.00 Lbs. for 106.92). But which would be more than we need anyway for about 900 Sq. Ft., inc;uding our neighbor in this city of about 20,000 ppl. per Sq. Mi. Is yours 10-10-10? I do not think the city will give us a permit for a cow! But we thank God we are so blessed to have so much, compared to so many other countries and people.

“This is a row of volunteer potatoes that did not get dug last fall. We shall see what they produce...”

I’m hoping they produce Pineapples this time! ;)

I’m putting in Redgold & Pinto Gold potatoes this season and starting a new Asparagus bed with Millenium and some Mary Washington crowns that I got for a few bucks at Farm & Fleet.

I just noticed that EVERY flower I picked to grow this season (Calendula, Zinnia, Dahlia, Marigolds, Cosmos and Nasturtium) is either orange or...orange! But it’ll be pretty. ;)

I have an app on my phone called White Noise. It has a purr. :)

Weather finally got warm, for a couple of days at least. Planted the purchased plants: marigolds, dianthus, polka-dot plant, snapdragons and mint. Picking some lettuce to top egg salad and tuna sandwiches. So nice to be gardening again.

I just found it! I downloaded the purr and it is adorable. They have a lot of neat noises, like the tropical one. I would think there might be a noise machine available where you could download all sorts of different noises. In this day and age…

I got 6-12-12 plus 2 bags of nitrogen. 34-0-0 Probably overkill on the nitrogen we’ll need, but I really hate having to run back to town to get anything. It’s nice to have things handy.

That just happens to be the variety of low-grade fertilizer they had. 10-10-10 or anything like that would’ve worked also. I just get what they have because it’s a good price.

cows? I love cows. And didn’t know it. We are surrounded by them pretty much, our neighbor is raising black Angus. They look so cute in the winter when they get furry.

Yes, we definitely are blessed here. Sadly most people don’t even recognize it. I’ve been having vision problems so I’ve been looking at various groups on the Internet to get information. It is amazing how many people feel blessed with their “free” healthcare in socialist countries. Well they live in tiny apartments, work at dead-end jobs, and only dream of having enough land to have a garden. They don’t recognize that they have sold their freedom for pretend security. It’s our economic freedoms that have always made America great, and the current crop of politicians, except Trump, are all willing to throw it away.

LOL. I'd like to have some warming too. Global warming stopped a number of years ago. We are entering a period of Grand Solar Minimum - named the Eddy Minimum. A period of very little sun activity and more seismic/volcanic activity.

These periods come around in approximate 200 year cycles. Last one was the Dalton Minimum in the early 1800s. After a year of heavy volcanic activity and Mt. Tambora big eruption, we had the “year without a summer” and the big New Madrid quake.

Here on our little acre, we are preparing on a shorter and cooler season than we usually have, just in case. If we get a little boost of warming it will be welcome.

Hubby and I were discussing this theory, and actually way long ago, the CO2 was more than it is in modern days. Likely the trees and plants would like to have a little more of the CO2.

Thanks for the links. I have had good luck when I have planted seeds directly into bagged garden soil.
