I'm SURE that, just because McCain's Father and Grandfather were both Admirals, and that Lt. McCain was a schoolmate, from Annapolis High, the flight school selection board would NEVER wink at a less than 4.0 performance from McCain the Third.

I know a guy who graduated from the USNA in the same class as John McCain. McCain finished 3rd from the bottom of his class. The joke was that all a Midshipman had to do was finish above McCain in order to get a commission. McCain class rank should have eliminated him from any consideration for flight school. In fact, McCain would have been dismissed if not for his father and grandfather being Admirals.
